Thursday Nights at The Track Recap
On July 14th was the first Thursday Nights at The Track event at the Webb School in Knoxville, TN. There were four different races that took place, the events were:
- 1 mile
- 4 x 400m relay
I decided to sign up for all of the events during the Thursday Nights at The Track event hosted by the KTC, as I don’t normally have a track to run on, so I thought that doing some speed work would be beneficial. I ran a few warm up laps and cool down laps in between each event, so my total mileage for that night was 7.98 miles.
In the 400m event, I ran 1:07.77. I placed 5th while the winning time was 1:00.83!
In the 800m event, I ran 2:24.46. My lap times were 1:11.75 and 1:12.71. They weren’t great but not terrible either. I ended up in 6th place. The winning time was 2:05.20!
In the 1 mile event, my legs started to become tired, and it showed. I ran the mile in 5:21.78. The good thing, however, is that my splits were relatively consistent! My lap times were 1:22.79, 1:19.91, 1:21.62 and 1:17.46. The winning time was 4:40.30 and I was 7th place. The 6th place spot was 5:21.77, so I missed out on 6th by 0.01 seconds! Oh well!
The last event was the 4 x 400m relay. They randomly assigned teams which was neat! I was the anchor on our team, and we ended up 2nd place. My lap time, on tired legs, was right around 1:13.50 according to the Garmin.
I had a great time at the event and met some pretty awesome people, too! I know there’s a lot of work to be done in order to reach some of my goals, especially for the 2016 Greenway Marathon in October. I’m excited to see how much I can push myself with more training!
